Dog-friendly Stays

Leave pup-prints in the sand

We love dogs!

We even have our own resident pup - Honey! So we’re so much more than a beachside inn that just ‘tolerates’ dogs... We invite your pooch to stay, dine and make themselves at home. Many dog-friendly places to stay in Norfolk have their ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’, but when it comes to pups at The Ship Inn, our restaurant, rooms and bar area are 100% woof-approved. We understand that your pooch is part of the family, no one gets left behind here!

Up to two well-behaved pups are welcome to stay with you in all of our bedrooms.

Our B&BS (Bed & Breakfast Sausage) Rate is £20.00 per pup, per night. Your hound will receive:

  • A friendly welcome.
  • Comfy doggy bed for use during their stay.
  • Some special treats.
  • A Hound Bag tote filled with useful accessories for your stay, including a tennis ball, poo bags, dog treats, and a walking map featuring routes local to the hotel.
  • A breakfast sausage each morning.
  • Please bring bowls, a doggy towel, food, and Fido's favourite lead.

Dog-friendly bedrooms must be pre-booked. Please call us to request a dog-friendly room when you make your booking. Unfortunately, if you arrive having packed a pup without booking, we may not be able to accommodate you (we know, it's paw-r form, but it helps us to ensure all our guests are comfortable).

Staying with us

The Ship Inn Doggy Charter

Our Doggy Charter helps keep everybody's tail wagging!

  • Your four-legged friend is welcome in all areas of the inn
  • Our seaside inn has spacious, level gardens – access is available from 7:00am - 11:00pm.
  • Our team are armed with doggy treats – we'll always ask before we dish these out!
  • We'll provide a comfy bed for your pup, please bring their favourite food bowl.
  • All pups receive a warm sausage at breakfast.

Important: please consider the comfort of other humans and their hounds, keeping your pup on a lead where necessary and being sure to calm them if they become a bit excited. We understand – we're excited too! But it's always good to be considerate. Please also clean up after your pup.

Dog-friendly beaches

To start, there's our very own Mundesley Beach. Miles long, the beach welcomes dogs from October - April. During peak season (May to September), there are many other coastal walks and beaches you can explore. Trimingham Beach, Happisburgh Beach and East Runton are all nearby.

Please simply give us a shout if you would like any recommendations for pup-friendly places to visit.
